What does "je veux un sac-a-dos violet" mean anyway?

It means I need to learn French! Bonjour everyone, I want to mange fromage in France for my Junior year. I want it so badly that I spent my summer mowing lawns, washing dogs, and picking up dog doo. Why would I want to live in a place where people eat escargot, climb the Eiffel Tower, and raise French Poodles?  Well, first of all, I want to learn French. My mom's pretty proficient at French, and I want to be able to speak it better than she does. What better way to learn the language than to live there? Second, I think it will look nice on my college applications, and since my school of choice is Cornell University, I really need to stand out to be part of their 18% acceptance rate. Third, I would like to gain more independence and break out of my extremely shy shell. And of course, I want to sit on the Med or ski in the Alps or shop in Paris... or all of the above!
So my plan is, if I get to France, I will keep up with this blog so I don't have to email individually my mom, my dad, my grandmas, my grandpas, my uncles, my aunts, my cousins, my friends, my dogs, my ducks, and my cats. You all can just sign on here and check out epic pics of the Mediterranean, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysees, and that really weird piece of tuna they put on my salad. I will also tell you stories about how awkward/fun it is to be an American teenager in France! And I'll post stories about my host family. Hopefully they are awesome, fun, adventurous, and have many furry friends.
I am trying to raise $5,000 through this blog to go towards the trip by May of 2012, I am part of the way there, but I could use all of the help I can get. If you are interested in my shenanigans, feel free to support my efforts by clicking on the donate button. Anything helps =]
A la prochaine!

Click the orange chip in button in the blue box at the bottom of the page! Suggested donation $10.
(Refunds available if I do not go. All donations go directly to AFS, not to my pocket!)
